Seam presentation is one part of a delivery, alongside line, length and speed. Compare a deliberately presented seam with a scrambled seam without assuming either must move in a predictable direction.

Observe the ball after release
A clear view from a safe recording position can help you and your coach see seam presentation. Do not place a camera operator or a teammate in the path of a live delivery.

Keep a reference delivery
Compare the variation with a ball you already control. If you change the target, approach and grip simultaneously, you cannot tell which change produced the observed result.

Measure movement honestly
Record what the ball did in flight and after pitching separately. Conditions and the surface affect outcomes; one delivery that deviates does not establish a reliable variation.

Two balls land near the same target but react differently off the surface. Record the observed difference without declaring a new technique successful after one attempt. A useful comparison includes seam presentation, landing point and the batter’s response over repeated supervised sessions.
