Standing up to spin brings the keeper closer to the stumps and reduces reaction time. Develop clear sight, movement and clean collection before making a quick stumping the main measure of success.

Review position and protection
Set a suitable position with your coach and use appropriate equipment. The keeper needs room to collect without obstructing the batter or assuming every delivery will turn in the same direction.

Wait for the ball’s information
Follow flight, pitching and deviation as far as possible. Moving only from the bowler’s reputation can leave the hands and body committed to the wrong path.

Collect before a dismissal attempt
Secure the ball and then make a controlled movement towards the stumps when appropriate. A fast attempt is ineffective if the ball was never cleanly received.

A ball goes straight on when the keeper expects turn. Review the first movement rather than simply asking for faster hands. When the collection becomes reliable, introduce a batter’s movement and discuss when a dismissal attempt is justified.
